Pole sheds built for North Canterbury blocks

Phil and the team build pole sheds, garages and farm sheds from Rangiora and Kaiapoi to Oxford, Amberley and Christchurch, slab and all. Then we take them as far inside as you want: lined, carpeted and fitted out as a man cave.

From the slab to the man cave

A shed doesn’t have to stop when the roof is on. Phil and the team pour the slab, stand the poles, clad it, and then keep going inside for as long as you want them to.

  1. Timber posts braced in a boxed slab area behind a house, with steel mesh laid before the concrete pour

    The slab

Posts braced, the slab boxed and meshed, ready for the pour.

  2. Timber posts and rafters standing on a new concrete slab, with scaffolding, on a rural block with a shelterbelt behind

    Poles and frame

Poles stood, bearers and rafters up, bracing in.

  3. A steel-clad shed with two open bays and a window, on a gravel pad beside a post-and-rail fence

    Clad and roofed

Roof and walls on, roller doors and windows where you want them.

  4. Inside a finished shed room: plywood-lined walls and ceiling, dark carpet and a glazed door

    Lined inside

Ply walls and ceiling, carpet down, a door you can lock.

  5. A garage fitted out as a bar: dark timber panelling, a long timber bar top, lit spirits shelves and a dartboard alcove

    Fitted out

A bar, a games room or a place to watch the rugby.

What we build

A three-bay pole shed with round timber poles and open fronts, on a gravel pad below tussock hills
A pole shed on a hill block, the front bays left open for machinery.

Pole sheds

Two bays for the cars or five for the tractor, the caravan and the hay: round poles, timber framing and steel or cedar cladding, built on your block on a slab we pour.

How a shed job runs

  1. Tell us about the shed

Use the planner, call, or send the form with a few photos of the site.

  2. Phil comes out and quotes

He walks the site with you, checks the zone and the ground, and quotes the job himself.

  3. Know what happens when

You get a timeline for the build and staged payments that match your job, so you know what’s coming next.

  4. Slab, poles and frame

The team boxes and pours the slab, stands the poles and puts the frame and roof up.

  5. Clad, closed in, fitted out

Cladding, doors and windows go on, then the lining and fit-out if you want one.

Questions

Another question? Call 0800 001 297 or send it with your quote.

Do I need a building consent for a pole shed?

Not always. On rural-zoned land, a pole shed or hay barn up to 110 m² can be exempt when a Licensed Building Practitioner, like Phil, builds it and it meets the Schedule 1 conditions. Bigger sheds, and sheds with a toilet, kitchen or bedroom, go through consent. Phil checks your zone when he quotes.

Do you pour the slab?

Yes. The team boxes, meshes and pours the slab as part of the shed, so you deal with one builder from bare ground to the finished building.

Can you fit the shed out inside?

Yes. Lining, insulation, carpet, doors and windows, and power through an electrician we bring in. A bar, a games room, a workshop or a den.

Which areas do you cover?

Christchurch and Lyttelton, and North Canterbury from Rangiora, Kaiapoi and Oxford up to Amberley, Waipara, Hanmer Springs and Kaikōura, with the lifestyle blocks in between.

How much does a pole shed cost?

It comes down to the size, the bays, the cladding, the slab and how far the fit-out goes. Phil comes out, looks at the site and quotes the job.

Is Phil licensed?

Yes. Phil is a Licensed Building Practitioner (carpentry) and a member of New Zealand Certified Builders, with more than 25 years building in Canterbury.
